MY THOUGHTS ON CARDS

One of the big things I want to focus on this year of 2018 

is HandMade cards....

I have always been a believer of love notes, snail mail cards.

Each year since my children have been in my life,

when they asked what I want the answer is always, always.

A LOVE LETTER

sometimes I am lucky, sometimes I get a gift, lol

I will be focusing on 

MUMSIES COTTAGE CARD LINE.

I cannot make this small business work without

those who love what I do make the orders that

keep me in this job.

What makes me different than Hallmark?

I ask this question because in my heart I think often,

"What if Mummies' Cottage cards become a big deal?"

I think of my beliefs on the subject.

1) My cards will always be handmade so I will

never be worldwide like Hallmark.

2) Most will be one of a kind and many will be 

personal, as you order it.

3) All the insides of my cards will always be blank,

on purpose, because we do not use words enough

anymore, we allow "the perfect card" to say what we want.

My cards will  pull that heart string to have you adding

the finishing touch.

4) I can make what I call Heirloom cards, they are a little

more expensive than my common cards but they are

made to be framed, loved and passed down.

5) My cards are made to be mailed, old fashioned 

stamp and post office, We need to use this service

or we may loose lots of post offices. Also, everyone

gets excited when they get a personal card in the mail

instead of a bill.

I will never be as big as Hallmark, I don't want to be but

I do have a dream of an on line store where

I can make cards for many knowing that all those things

above are being accomplished.

ONCE THIS YEAR IS OVER, 

THIS SITE WILL BE UPDATED TO SHOW ALL

THE NEW THINGS THE COTTAGE WILL BE

SELLING, MAKING, THINGS I HAVE TO OFFER FOR SALE

AND LESSONS.

I HAVE BEEN WORKING LOTS ON IDEAS AND THIS

WILL BE MY MAIN PLACE TO SHOWCASE MY ART.

I CONSIDER MYSELF AN ARTIST YET

MY MIND IS NOT SURE EXACTLY WHERE THIS

WILL LEAD ME, HERE I WILL SHARE THAT GROWTH

AS I LEARN WHERE MY LIFE IS TAKING ME.

a FLAMBOYANT MAN BECOMES MY FRIEND...

I have always loved meeting, speaking to flamboyant

men, always think they can become some of my best friends,

but usually when I meet such a lad, 

it is a quick encounter.

Such was the case one day last week when

I was between testing and had a little time to kill.

Where else to hang out than a booth rental flea market.

As I explore a corner I hear a loud voice,

"Girl, IT BE DARK IN THIS THERE CORNER TODAY!"

"Yep" I answer.

He then grabs a pair of used Oxfords, bright yellow in color:

"GURL, THESE BE FINE WITH THE SUIT I HAVE TO WEAR!"

I've no doubt he does.

I show him another pair that are not quite as loud, that

can be worn on most days. They are an expensive shoe

with some wear to them. He slides them on,

"GUH, THESE SLIDE RIGHT ON MADE FOR ME,

they so comfy....

I'm going ask them to go down."

they are 30 and while they are worth it for that brand I 

understand from further conversation that my new friend

is without much extra money.

He comes find me in this huge place,

"Twenty fie, won't go down mo"

Darn I say to myself and to my new pal.

As I walk around, looking for deals, things to repurpose,

He and I keep running into each other, having 

different conversations each time.

I give him my business card because one, 

I can see us becoming friends and two,

he is interested in possible hiring me to do a few things

for him. Each conversation makes me feel closer to him

and has me thinking of those shoes and how I want him

to have the shoes that fit him so perfectly and how

I just collected 25 bucks from a scrap job I had done.

Finally, I hear this colorful man checking out

and I just cannot let him leave without those shoes.

I hurry to the dark corner where we met, where

our new-one day friendship began, and I grab

those shoes, run to the register, put the box on the counter

with the 25 dollars and I hug him and walk away....

I see his shock, tears in his eyes.

He does not say No, no sign of protest, just

shock and pure love in his eyes.

He allows me to be the giver of

a RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS

and I have the pure satisfaction of knowing

that those beautiful, wild shoes will walk the

streets of Bourbon Street with my flamboyant 

friends feet nestled in their comfort.

Summer is fast approaching and before

we know it, school, homework, early mornings will

be back!

MY card making business has been keeping me busy.

I can make any type of card you need.
Many ask, "What is an heirloom Mumsie Card?"
This is a card, usually a 5 by 7 that can be framed
and used as art. They are a bit more expensive
than my regular cards, which go for 3.50 to 4.50.
These are fancy, no two alike, and personalized.
My photo app is not working this morning, will
add pictures later.
I can also do your scrapbooking for you.
I made a lovely scrapbook for a dear friends Dad
for Fathers Day. I can't share it here yet but
I am quite pleased with the way it turned out.
I also, last year added a tea time/ coffee hour time.
If you, a few friends just looking for a unique place
to gather and hang out for a few hours,
let the Cottage be that place!
I can customize the gathering in any way you would want.
Mimosa's, Coffee, Tea,
finge sandwiches, dip and chips, cookies or cake...
You name it and I can make it happen.
I like to keep these gatherings to not more than 6 friends.
