What is going on at Mummies' Cottage...

Working on Halloween cards and planning my 

Christmas cards to get them done early in hopes

of getting some Christmas orders.

Also was taking orders for these cuties!

I have had these for 5 years they have sat in hot attics

and sheds and have held up so well,

I still love them as much as I did when I made them!

$20 for set. Getting close to the holiday but if you

want them for next year, go ahead and order anytime.

No two are alike because when I start, I never know what I will do.

I also do these for Christmas with each with a letter to spell

out HoHo.

These are one for $10 or three for $25.

Other things I can do:
Wedding gifts on ceramic tiles,
I add a wedding invitation and a picture,
the rest comes out as I work, never know the final look
but I try and find out as much as I can about the couple
and go from there. I can also do these for
baby showers, baby gifts, the ideas are endless.

friends by repurposing 2017 calendar books
or a journal.... Oh so many things Mumsie can do!

One of the things I am most proud of is my treasure boxes,
I have no pictures to share right now
but especially for a baby, parents receive so many
things they want to save that is not flat that can be
put in a baby book, the small gown they put on
at birth, those cute little hospital hats,
A decorated box for those things,
with their names and their statistics.
My grand girls also use their treasure boxes
for things we collect on our adventure walks,
Shells, leaves, baby bird egg shells...
the ideas are endless.
So give a gift that will not be one a child already has.

SANTA CLAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN....

YES, its almost that time, Christmas.

Do something different this year,

start a family tradition with these Christmas countdown boxes.

Fill each drawer with a small gift, snack or like our KD does,

a note with something to do for fun or for others.

She it teaching her children that Christmas is more than

just Santa coming with presents.

I am also making homemade  frames, no two alike,

We all have that vintage photo we love, frame it in one

such as this and make it part of your xmas decor.

Or have me make one for each year "Santa mall picture"

you have taken of your little ones. Just like special ornaments they make

each year and reminisce about when it comes time to decorate,

they will love when these frames come out with their Santa pictures.

I also can make your homemade Christmas cards,

provide me a picture and I will scrap them.

Sending Christmas cards is something that is becoming

obsolete try and keep it going.

It keeps our postal system in business and there is

nothing like getting mail for some.

The inside of my cards are always blank,

I want those who send them to write love notes in them.

To the ones they send it to, this is another that

is fading fast and yet, it can make such a difference in 

someones day to get that card in the mail.

I will be working on packets of thank you cards

that can be personalized if you order.

Thank you cards are also becoming a thing of the past.

With emails and internet and texts,

we have used these things to thank others.

Teach your little ones to write and learn to mail 

their own thank you cards with love letters.

It will be something that they will carry with them

and hopefully teach their own children.

A nice Christmas gift to give to someone would

be a packet of thank you cards with their names or initial on it.

When the giver of a gift gets a card in the mail from

a child they love thanking them, well I can't tell you

what it does for that someone.

MUMSIE'S COTTAGE!

Time to update this site!

I have neglected Mummies' Cottage, 

time to get it back on tract if I want this small business

to grow.

What is Mummies' Cottage?

A place where I have a studio in my home and 

I make paper crafts, old pieces into new for gifts,

Not much I can't do.....

I also want my birthday parties to become a "NEW Fad"

yet I need a few kids to book with me to start it up.

So exactly what will a birthday party at Mummies' Cottage get you?

The birthday girl will choose one scrap item that she

would like to make with 10 to 12 of her friends.

( Could be less but I have no space for more than 12.)

A journal, a clipboard, a frame.

Here they will learn basics of scrapping 

and hopefully making things with their own hands.

Although I can't supply the cake,

if you choose cupcakes or cookies and drinks

instead, I can supply that for a little bit extra.

I just need a few little girls to book to get this

off the ground. Just like when Cork and Canvas started,

after one or two parties everyone wanted in.

My work is never the same because when I start it,

my customers give me a little bit information

as to what they want and I let my mind and heart take off.

I would love to stay so busy I am up till midnight 

every night. My work is vintage, it will never look

store bought or all the same. If you are looking 

for that I am not your girl.

I also do party favors for baby shower, birthday parties.

I also would love to start brunch parties for those Momma's or

women who just need to have a place away to gather.

I would provide Mimosa's, cookies or sandwiches,

We can do a craft or you all can do nothing but catch up.

Mummies' Cottage is just so cozy and sometimes

you want to meet up with a few friends away from

your own home. I can do that for you.

I make beautiful cards for any occasion, again, 

they will not look store bought.

I can make you a bunch the same if you want

thank you cards, Or I can make you one special one for

that special friend. Ask me if I can do something and

I can let you know whether I can or not.

I promise to keep this site up to date 

now that I am taking it off the ground instead of

sitting on the fence!

 My Christmas boxes, no two are alike, they are 

countdown boxes to Christmas morning! Each drawer is 2 by 2

and the total box is approx. 12 by 12.

You can put a little treat in each or do like my DIL

each day she puts something to do in a drawer,

sometimes Its something to do for others, sometimes

it is something they do as a family.

What a great way to teach your children about giving back.

They can have your child's name on it or just your last

name of your family. NO two are alike.....

Next Saturday, May 28th,

I have been asked to show my business in a

scrapboooking demonstration as well as 

being able to take orders or sell my wares.

We are The Difference is the name of

our Plaquemine site that explains all that happens

in our little town.

So If you are free next Saturday, come and 

check out myself and others who make crafts

for a living. It will be fun and a time to pick up a few

fun gifts from many booths.

Another craft I can make...

I am working on this ceramic tile for 

my nephew, Hugh and his family.

It is not nearly finished but wanted to kind of show

what I mean when I say I can make a tile, and

heirloom of a graduating teen.

Its a great way to save their graduation card,

their picture, name card,

I sell them perched on a small easel 

which comes with the order.

I sell these for 45 a piece. I will post the completed one

when I get it done.

This is the first I made at a class in Thibodaux

of my Mom and her sister.

This can be done with a wedding invite, 

which I really love making, it is one of the

best an unusual gift to give.

A MOTHERS DAY SURPRISE!

I Can now post the story of this chalk board I was

honored to make for my niece, Toya.

Toya is my brother, Peter's daughter.

Three days prior to Mothers Day, my high school bud, David

who happens to be Toya's youngest sons dad

contacted me to see if I could make a gift for Toya.

He explained how he usually buys a plant for Dayne to

give his Mom but Dayne wanted something special

 this year so they hired me for the job.

This is what I made, minus Alanis Morisette CD lol.

I wanted her to have one of my chalkboards that came

from my own cottage kitchen cabinet.

I had it started but was saving this one for someone special.

The other went to my gypsy baby and Kayshara, shara.

I personalized it for Dayne and his mom.

My little niece, her life has not always been easy,

I am so very happy to have found out this gift

from her baby and his Dad

turned her Mothers Day around.

I will forever be grateful that David asked me to

be involved and that no matter where Toya

goes in her life a part of her Aunt Lil will

follow her.

You guys did good, Dayne and David!

Its time to get this little scrap business going again!

I can't believe it is almost a year since the last post

but helping with the grand girls has kept us all busy.

Now that Bean is 5, Tuts is 2 (in a few weeks) and

Smalls will be 1 in July, things are getting a little

easier at the other Riera home.

I am ready to go full force into the thing I love to do,

Scrap especially when it is doing for others,

to see the faces of those people I make gifts for

makes me happy.

CONSOLIDATE WHICH WILL LOOSE JOBS FOR

SOME OF THE GREATEST PEOPLE ON EARTH.

BUT LETS THINK BACK ON THE LAST TIME YOU 

RECIEVED A CARD IN YOUR MAILBOX,

NOT FOR BIRTHDAY, OR A DEATH,

IT'S JUST BECAUSE LOVE.

HOW DID IT MAKE YOU FEEL, 

WARM AND FUZZY? 

EVEN I HAVE NOT SENT CARDS THE WAY

I USED TO JUST TO MAKE PEOPLE FEEL 

GOOD WHEN THEY CHECK THEIR MAIL.

I TELL YOU IT CHANGES A PERSONS DAY, PUTS

A SMILE ON THEIR FACE ALL DAY AND SMILES

ARE CHAIN REACTION.

SO, MONDAY I AM GOING CARD CRAZY,

MAKING "JUST BECAUSE" CARDS TO SELL

NONE WILL BE THE SAME AND ALL WILL

BE HANDMADE FROM THIS BRAIN OF MINE.

CHEAPER THAN HALLMARK!

MY BIGGER ONES, APPROXIMATELY 6 BY 8,
